Open Invitation - Let's Talk!

So here it is. I'm laying it out there for anyone interested in picking it up. This is an invitation to whoever would like to join me as I look for ways to daily share the light of Christ, whatever that may mean or wherever that may take me.

Will you share the creative ways the Lord has shown you on how to share His light and love...in practical terms. Sure, acts of random kindness are wonderful and should be done, but what about acts of random "light sharing"? Are they one in the same for Christians? I would say not always. What I am hoping to ramp up in my life is Holy Spirit inspired acts which lead to opportunities to share the the Gospel...to obey that "still small voice" courageously.

We talk about it all the time in church, but to be honest, I am a bit frustrated because I am feeling somewhat ineffective as a child of the King. I know I am meant to be sharing His love and light more often outside of the "four walls"

I want this to become so much a part of my life that it is like breathing, until it just happens continuously and without me being self-conscious about it. I want Christ to be free to use me however He wishes...spontaneously or planned.

Will you join me?
Got some ideas to share?
Let's discuss!

  2. Thanks Sandy:-)

You mean being thankful when you are being helped by someone out in public...a waitress or sales clerk?

Or do you mean being thankful to God and Him opening doors of opportunity?

    Could you share some specifics?

Okay, now you are really challenging me!! Both. possibly if we thanked Him ahead of time for the opportunities to have an attitude of gratitude we would find more doors open to share with all those who cross our paths.
I try to thank each clerk or waitress, using their name, for their service. ( hopefully they have on a name tag) If they don't, it... See More just occured to me, I could ask their name and then thank them.
A friend of ours uses what he calls bridge statements or questions. It you have an opportunity that affords a few minutes challenge them with this statement. "Tell me about your spiritual journey" . Maybe others have some ideas.

  4. Thanks Sandy. I like that bridge statement idea!

Anyone have another idea or story to share on how they have gone out shinning?!

I just always ask the Lord, that whoever He wants me to speak to, that He will put them in my path and give me the words to speak of His love, mercy, forgiveness and salvation. No matter where I am.

  6. Thanks Linda for joining the conversation:-) That is definitely a great heartfelt attitude!

I pray that also, but so often I come home and I haven't mentioned Christ to anyone and I feel like I have wasted so many opportunities. What I am wondering is, should we not be more deliberate and perhaps not just hoping for opportunities to speak but actually doing more to create opportunities to speak?

What things or activities can we Christians do or get involved in to actually create more opportunities to shine and speak into others lives?

  7. Linda...your response brought Luke 11: 1-10 to mind.

I read that scripture and hear God say to me, that if we earnestly pray in faith to see God's Kingdom come, which of course includes us helping bring others into the Kingdom, then...

we will be given by God what we need to make that happen (ask and you shall receive), ... See More

we will find opportunities to shine and share (seek and you shall find),

and as we put our faith into action, God opens up the doors of Heaven (knock and it shall be opened), and will give us whatever we may need in each instance to do what He is urging us to do to help someone in their life journey find the Lord Jesus.

I really believe in divine appointments. I really wanted to tell my uncle Bob about God while I was home. I went to him several times ( and prayed before I went) but never felt the time was right. I can only continue to pray for him, that he will come to know the Lord.
Then yesterday, I went to rent a storage unit for Josh and totally got to tell the woman who helped me about how God loves us so much and will never leave us.

  9. It's so true...sometimes talking to family about Jesus is harder than talking to a perfect stranger, but we have more possibilities to "be Jesus" to family...but more accountability too.

Linda you are probably one of the kindest and loving people I know and I know your uncle sees Christ when he looks at you.

I am praying that God will put people in his life to minister to him. I pray that I will always be ready for God to use me.
    Love you so much.
